Classical Guitar

Recommended for ages 7 and up.

The Guitar Conservatory of Northern Westchester program in Classical Guitar is a comprehensive method for learning guitar that is appropriate for beginners ages 7 and up, as well as students with any amount of prior experience.

Similar to traditional piano lessons, all Classical Guitar students learn basic musical skills through reading, theory, and correct playing habits.

For Children & Teens

Features of the Classical Guitar program for children and teens include three yearly recitals and optional group and/or ensemble classes. Participation in local, state and international festivals/competitions, as well as examinations, is encouraged and stewarded. Many of our students participate in NYSSMA and consistently achieve top scores.

In addition, GCNW is an accredited London College of Music teaching institution, providing enrolled students access to ongoing examinations (LCM Performance Awards) that provide an internationally recognized qualification and record.

Adult Students

Our teachers are all highly skilled and experienced at working with adults, both total beginners and those that have had any amount of prior experience. One area that we specialize in is remedial technique, whereby we can help you overcome those difficulties that are holding you back from achieveing more advanced repertoire. We can also help you achieve overall improvement to existing playing technique, and point out movements and reflexes that are not economical and serving your playing to the maximum. We offer optional guitar ensemble classes for adults where students learn and rehearse trios and quartets.
